From the staff at IAVM and Facility Manager magazine, we wish you a very happy and healthy 2019. We look forward to sharing the year with you through the pages of Facility Manager, with our promise being to deliver the most insightful stories to help you become an even more accomplished and learned professional venue manager.
We start off the year with the proverbial bang with a profile look at Paul Turner, CSSP, CVE, who holds the position of senior director of event operations at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, affectionately known as JerryWorld. Well, maybe not too affectionately by those who are not Cowboys fans! Nonetheless, Turner obviously has a role at one of the world’s most recognized stadiums and working for the world’s most branded (and expensive) team, the Dallas Cowboys.
That’s not necessarily the story with Turner, though. He is often thought of as a “stadiums” guy after having worked at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles, before coming to the Cowboys. A dig into his background reveals a passion and serious performing arts past, which he shares in this interesting profile piece.
Turner is also recognized as the chair for IAVM’s Academy for Venue Safety & Security (AVSS), which is on the horizon from March 10-14 in San Diego. Find out his thoughts on the world of safety and security and how he manages that effort at his mammoth venue.
We have more, of course, including features on Rigging, Security Planning Using Tech Advancements Results in More Precise Mitigation Solutions, and Ticketing Technology.
Your familiar sector columns are in full force, as are the popular Facility Doctors and In the Quirks columns. We look at some special IAVM members in the CVE Corner and I Am Venue Management.
In all, it’s our first present to you for the new year. Enjoy and as always get back to us with any story ideas that we should consider for future issues.
